Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen arrives on October 9, 2026, combining a new expansion with the action RPG's first Nintendo Switch 2 release. Switch 2 players receive the original game and expansion together, while the release also covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Capcom's announcement confirms the date, platforms and bundled Nintendo edition.
A new region and more dungeon challenges
Capcom USA's announcement trailer identifies Norgan, a snowy, long-abandoned northern region, as a new destination. The expansion also adds twelve dungeon challenges across the existing world and new hairstyles and tattoo options for the Arisen and Pawns.
These additions give returning players two kinds of reasons to revisit the game: an unfamiliar area to explore and further challenges in places they already know. Character customization is another part of the package, though it serves a different purpose from the expansion's story and encounters.
Capcom describes Dark Arisen as a paid expansion adding a new story to the March 2024 game. The publisher says player feedback informed its work on accessibility and additional content, with both existing fans and first-time players in mind. Source: Capcom.
Key Information
The buying options depend on whether players already own the base game:
- On Switch 2, Dark Arisen combines the main game and expansion in one package.
- On PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, the expansion is also available separately as DLC.
- The release date is October 9, 2026.
The bundle and separate DLC arrangement are explained in Capcom's official trailer description. Nintendo's Australian listing independently lists the Switch 2 edition for October 9.
What This Means
In our view, the Nintendo release is the clearest opportunity to introduce the game to a new audience: newcomers can start with the complete base-game-and-expansion package. Existing owners have a different decision, centered on whether the new story, region and dungeon challenges justify returning.
The important distinction is between broader availability and the quality of a particular version. A confirmed Switch 2 listing establishes where the game can be played; it does not by itself establish how that edition performs. Players evaluating the new platform release should keep that question separate from the expansion's advertised content.
